Photos showing the expansion of a “potager” style vegetable garden in Damascus, PA using the “lasagna” method to create new beds. Judy and I braved the icy November 2014 winds and made new beds by layering newspaper + hay+ horse manure directly on top of her rocky, shallow ground to give her a head start on the 2015 growing season. As a permaculturist, I love this method, as long as I have the materials available. Results were fantastic and the soil in the beds will only get better with the addition of organic matter every year.
