A Class on Growing Healthy Houseplants with CCE Sullivan County

LIBERTY, NY— Keeping houseplants is an ideal way to create an attractive and restful setting in a home or office and help purify the air. Maintaining houseplants can also be a satisfying hobby. In order to be a successful indoor gardener, one should understand how the interior environment affects plant growth and how cultivation differs from growing plants outdoors. A class on growing healthy houseplants will be offered on Thursday, February 27, 2014 by the Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County’s Master Gardener Program. This event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Gerald J. Skoda Extension Education Center on 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road in Liberty.

Anyone can achieve a “green thumb” with the proper education. This class instruction will cover the light, temperature, humidity, water, nutrition, and soil requirements of houseplants. Common pests and their management will also be discussed.

All class materials are covered with a fee of only $10.00. Class size is limited so pre-registration with non-refundable payment is required in advance. Registration or more information can be obtained by calling 845-292-6180 or emailing smd243@cornell.edu.
